Dentista do Bem is TdB’s main program, and relies on the volunteer work of dental surgeons who attend in their own office children and young people in socially vulnerable situations between 11 and 17 years old, providing free dental treatment until they turn 18 .
Be a Dentista do BemThe treatment, carried out in the volunteer dentist's office, is curative, preventive and educational. The Dentista do Bem program has volunteers spread across more than 1,300 Brazilian municipalities, and in 12 countries in Latin America and Portugal. The TdB office connects everyone involved in the program (the beneficiary, his family, the school and the volunteer dentist) and monitors the appointments.
Patients are selected by degree of need, which is determined by a screening carried out in public schools or social institutions. Young people and children with serious oral problems, those with lower economic conditions and those closest to their first job are given priority in care.
Young people selected by the program will receive a letter indicating the dental surgeon who will offer the treatment free of charge. Turma do Bem seeks to direct young people to the offices closest to their homes.
